Social Studies Textbook- Chapter 9, Lessons 3/4
1. democracy- a government in which the people have a say in political decisions
2. checks and balances- a system that lets each branch of government limit the power of the other two
3. veto- to reject
4. unconstitutional- going against the constitution
5. amendment- a change
6. inauguration- a ceremony to make a president official
7. Cabinet- a group of people that help the president make decisions
8. political party- a group of people with the same political ideas
9. interest- what people pay to borrow money
10. capital- the city in which political leaders meet to make decisions
