May Newsletter

Welcome back from being off track! I hope it was very restful, as mine was! We have a busy month ahead of us with preparation for the CRT's in June. This is what we will be doing in each subject this month:

Math: We are finishing up learning about different types of graphs, how to make them, and interpret them. The test will be within the coming week and then we will start our last units on patterns and probability.

Reading: “Road to Success” minutes are still being counted and our class totals are over 146,000 minutes since the beginning of the year! We have reached our goal of 129,000 minutes and are seeing how many more we can get, through the end of the year. Keep it up!

The next book report will be a due in June sometime and will be the student's choice of what they would like to read. I will send out information on what the assignment will be in the next few weeks.

Science: We are done with all of our science units this year! We will be doing a lot of reviewing for the end-of-year state tests in the coming weeks. Please watch for more information about that!

Social Studies: We are learning about the changes that took place in Utah after the pioneers settled here in 1847. We will also start learning the counties of Utah and Utah Government.

Writing: We are in the midst of writing a persuasive paper. The students got to choose their own topics and will write to persuade others about their view on the topic they chose.

In the coming weeks, we will start a county report. Students will be assigned a specific county in Utah to research and write about.
